Suspect in fatal accident denies that he was driving

One woman died and the suspected driver was injured in a single vehicle accident that occurred on June 15 near Woodruff, approximately 60 miles east of Clemson, South Carolina. According to troopers with the Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at approximately 12:50 a.m. when a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria driving east on I-26 hit a roadside guardrail. The 23-year-old man facing drunk driving charges in connection with the incident denies that he was driving.

Child-endangerment rules in conflict with marijuana laws

As is the case throughout the U.S., child custody laws in South Carolina aim to preserve the best interests and well-being of the child or children concerned. This usually means access to both parents unless either of them is deemed to be a danger to the child. However, in some states, child custody legislation has not kept up with changing laws surrounding marijuana use. This means that some parents have found themselves at risk of losing their children, despite adhering to state law.

U.S. adoptees in search for their biological parents

Some children in South Carolina rarely see one or the other of their parents. Others become estranged from them entirely. But something that not many people consider is that there are many who never get to know their parents at all and may not even be aware of their identities. Furthermore, due to the controls surrounding adoption, it can be a real struggle for them to acquire that information.

DUI charges in South Carolina accident

A 33-year-old Mount Pleasant man has been charged with felony DUI and two counts of leaving an accident scene involving personal injury. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on June 13. Construction crews were reportedly paving the road in the area when a pickup drove through the construction area close to the guard rail and struck two workers, according to witnesses.

Father's Day text encourages parents to pay child support

Across the United States, thousands of dollars of child support go unpaid each month and the situation is no different in South Carolina. As the debts increase, several states are resorting to more and more drastic measures to encourage parents to pay the child support that they owe. However, these methods are not foolproof, nor are they always popular with their targets.

Board declines man's parole bid

Some readers from South Carolina may recall the deadly boating accident on Lake Murray that left two women dead. The man who was convicted of reckless homicide with respect to that incident recently saw his petition for early release from prison denied by a board. He is currently serving a 10-year sentence.

Model receives hefty settlement as her divorce is finalized

Sadly, however perfect a relationship might seem when you get married, it doesn't guarantee it will work out. Sometimes no one is to blame and you simply drift apart. At other times, one or both partners will do something to upset the other. The important thing for couples in South Carolina to remember is that divorce is sometimes the best option. If your marriage isn't going smoothly, why not start again and give both of you a chance at a happier life?
