Woman charged with DUI in South Carolina

A woman in Conway was recently charged with a DUI after a Conway citizen reportedly stopped her and took her keys away from her. According to the Conway police report, the 34-year-old woman was driving under the influence when the man who ended up stopping her allegedly saw her gray vehicle pull out of a driveway, drive into oncoming traffic and then drive off the road.

The man stated that he blew his vehicle horn and began flashing his headlights but did not get any response from the driver. The man told police that he followed the woman as she drove towards the city limits and that she again began to drive into oncoming traffic before she tried to make a U-turn in front of a Food Lion store. After that, the man stated that he got out of his vehicle, secured the woman's attention and then took her keys away from her and called police. Now, the woman is facing drunk driving charges.

If the woman is convicted of her DWI charge, she could face having her license suspended or revoked for a certain period of time, and she could also be facing a jail sentence. Additionally, she could have to pay fines and fees if she is convicted. The severity of the consequences she could face could be stricter if she already has previous DWI convictions on her record.

A DWI attorney might be able to help the woman fight her charges. The attorney might be able to get the woman's charges dismissed completely if the woman did not submit to a blood or breath test that proved that she was indeed intoxicated or if sobriety tests were improperly conducted by law enforcement officers.
