According to the man's attorney, he was an illegal immigrant from Mexico who had slipped into the country. After pleading to drunk driving charges, he was given the maximum 15-year prison sentence.

A man now faces a felony DUI charge over an accident that killed a woman in Orangeburg. The woman, a 21-year-old from Hickory Grove, was a passenger in the vehicle driven by the accused. The driver is a 26-year-old man from St. Matthews.
Repeat DUI offender sentenced in fatal South Carolina accident
A 36-year-old man from Lexington County, South Carolina, was sentenced to 17 years in prison for the death of a 21-year-old man he hit while he was alleged driving under the influence.
