Colts owner divides property amicably in confidential divorce

Today, in South Carolina, marriage is not necessarily a lifetime commitment. Not all couples stay close and although mediation is possible, sometimes the relationship is beyond repair. In these cases, divorce is a sensible and often healthy option. That certainly seems to be the case for the billionaire owner of Indianapolis Colts and his wife, who have described their breakup as the right decision.

The two, who were married for 33 years, did not have a prenuptial agreement. For some couples with such significant assets that could spell trouble, but they appear to have come to a peaceful decision about who gets what. According to the settlement agreement reached by the pair, the billionaire's share includes the Colts, several properties in Indiana and a number of bank accounts.

His wife will retain all rights over her fitness company, along with her house. She is also set to receive a large amount of cash and two cars belonging to the Colts. They have each also signed a confidentiality agreement so further details on their divorce are not available. Nevertheless, they seem confident that the decision is the best option for themselves and their family, which includes their three daughters.

Divorce doesn't always go so smoothly, but it is good for all concerned when it does. An attorney can usually help ease the process and cool any potential disputes. Couples in South Carolina can certainly learn from this pair's example. If your marriage seems like it's on the rocks, it is senseless to cause yourself and your partner more pain by dragging it out. Divorce is a fresh start and gives you both a chance to move on with your lives and be happy.
