South Carolina man to receive adoption award

Welcoming a new child into your family is a wonderful event. Whether this happens via birth or adoption, the run-up to the happy occasion is often a busy time, requiring plenty of planning and organization. For families that choose adoption, there can be various legal and administrative matters to consider. Even so, this worthy path is one that is chosen by many families across the United States.

One man who strongly advocates adoption is set to receive an award for his efforts. Based in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, he has devoted several years to promoting adoption, both in the United States and internationally. As the co-founder of Together for Adoption and its president he is due to be presented the Angels in Adoption award for his efforts.

Inspired by the adoption of a little girl by his aunt and uncle when he was seven, he had always expected to adopt someday. He and his wife had two biological children, but their son suffered a devastating medical condition that caused him to have numerous seizures every day. Learning that their future children could suffer the same, the couple chose to adopt from then on.

Sadly, a little after turning 3 years old, their son died. This loss influenced them to consider the plights of children around the world. From there, they began visiting orphanages in China to learn more. In 2008, Together for Adoption's first conference took place in Greenville, and the organization has gone from country to country. One goal of the organization is to empower local churches to be able to care for orphans.

It is important to remember that adoption can still feature in your plan for the future even if you have biological children. It can be a long process, but it is certainly worthwhile. However, it is important to ensure that all loose ends are tied up and all the necessary administration has been carried out to secure your adoption. An attorney can help you through the process and assist you in ensuring that everything is in order.
