Complicated property division case between dentist and ex-wife

The divorce case between a South Carolina woman and a prior pediatric dentist has caused quite a controversy when it comes to settling their assets. The former dentist is accused of harming minors and is also being investigated for Medicaid fraud due to the $4+ million he has received from Medicaid since 2010. His ex-wife has additionally accused him of cutting her off from their financial accounts and depleting the money.

However, the former dentist filed a counter petition, claiming that his ex-wife managed all finances for his dentistry business. He says that she went behind his back, without his consent, and established a trust for herself of more than $2 million. He also claims that she set up four additional accounts, two of which are IRAs totaling nearly $200,000 and the other two in her granddaughters' names from a past husband, containing nearly $30,000. Due to these accounts and her financial involvement in his business, he is demanding that she now provide him alimony.

Family members told reporters that the ex-husband's memory and health are declining and that his financial accounts are nearly depleted. There are even moments when he is unaware that his divorce has been finalized or that the dentistry business has closed. Furthermore, the ex-wife has recently cut him off from his children. The complexity of this case has drawn a following from reporters. The ex-wife is expected to file her response to the counter petition fairly soon.

If you are experiencing a similarly complex division of assets case in Clemson, South Carolina or the surrounding area, you may need an experienced divorce lawyer to support you. This specific case between the former pediatric dentist and South Carolina woman has resulted in multiple petitions and claims, which require an extensive legal review. When you are already going through a stressful time in your life, consider finding local legal counsel help to relieve some of that burden.
