The South Carolina Highway Patrol charged a woman with two counts of felony DUI after a crash in Clarendon County on Aug. 30. The accident on SC 261 killed a 34-year-old man from Manning who suffered chest and neck injuries due to the wreck.
A Sumter police officer reportedly rescued a motorist from a lake after the man's car had gone off the road and into the water. The officer says that he originally stopped because he saw two cars parked on a bridge with their hazard lights on. When he got out of his car, he realized that there was a third car in the water with the motorist trapped inside.
A driver who carried a Mexican driver's license is facing several drunk driving charges, according to police reports. On Dec. 8, 2013 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Santee police were alerted by a person who claimed to have seen a reckless driver. According to the police, the citizen reportedly saw a white model Ford truck driving "on the wrong side of the road" and "all over the road." The person stated that the truck was headed eastbound on Bass Drive in the direction of Highway 6 in South Carolina.
