A 24-year-old South Carolina man is facing charges of felony DWI resulting in death after hitting and killing a cyclist in front of a Goodwill store. The cyclist, a 33-year-old man, died before he could be transported to a hospital. The driver continued traveling for a few blocks after the collision, but he then walked back to the site of the accident.
An accident on a South Carolina highway on March 17 left a woman injured and a man facing drunk driving charges. The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Maybank Highway near Bears Bluff Road on Wadmalaw Island. According to the police, a woman was changing a tire on her disabled car, which was partially blocking traffic, when an oncoming vehicle stuck her car.
A 20-year-old man from Little River, South Carolina, is in custody on suspicion of felony DWI after a car crash that claimed the life of a 27-year-old woman, also a Little River resident. The accident happened about 6:15 on the morning of Jan. 12 on Highway 90 near Longs.
A driver who carried a Mexican driver's license is facing several drunk driving charges, according to police reports. On Dec. 8, 2013 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Santee police were alerted by a person who claimed to have seen a reckless driver. According to the police, the citizen reportedly saw a white model Ford truck driving "on the wrong side of the road" and "all over the road." The person stated that the truck was headed eastbound on Bass Drive in the direction of Highway 6 in South Carolina.
